The Wild Class

Picture

Get into nature and learn some real skills with the Wild Class. Build up your naturalist knowledge of our region while practicing primitive survival skills, wildlife tracking, plant studies, navigation, bird language, and more. This class is taught in different locations around the area so that you can see, touch, and understand the natural landscape like a true native of this place.

Build a foundation for nature knowledge, experience, and connection that you can continue to use as you pursue other related fields.

Course Content Includes:
  • The Art of Fire: bow drill, tinder, fire structures
  • The Art of Tracking: how understanding tracks and sign brings us closer to wildlife
  • Natural Shelters: they come from the landscape and go back to the landscape
  • Wandering: exploring the wilderness together with no time or destination
  • Sensory Awareness: exercises and games to enhance the senses and to be in the present moment
  • Naturalist Knowledge: going beyond the names of plants, trees, and wildlife and seeing the landscape through the eyes of a true native
  • Overnight group camping experiences that brings more realness to the skills and builds stronger friendships
  • Experiences that will give you exciting new stories to share with your friends and family
  • Overall improvement in your competency in the outdoors in all weather conditions and seasons
