Emergency Preparedness Workshop
For individuals who would like to be better prepared.
→ Training + Preparation = Readiness
Purpose of This Workshop:
A recent survey found that nearly 1 in 5 Americans have had to leave their homes due to extreme weather conditions. This number is likely to increase as storms are becoming more severe and wildfires more common. In some instances they only had minutes to grab whatever they could, throw it into a car (or on their backs), and get out. This topic alone can stir anxiety and fear, however we've found that training and preparing can ease the tension and help create a sense of confidence through knowing what to do.
Our goal is to ease your anxiety, not to add to it.
When emergencies catch us completely off-guard they tend to throw us quicker and deeper into fight, flight, or freeze response. However, if we have prepared ahead of time we are more likely to go into it level-headed and thinking clearly. In that regards, we view this workshop as a leadership training. Leaders are those who can pause, check their surroundings, take everything in, and make a rapid plan based upon their experience and level of training. We intend to train you to lead your family, your friends, and/or your community.
What this workshop is not.
This is not a doomsday prepper workshop. We are not talking about bunkers and massive storage of supplies and food. We have 7 hours to provide you with enough information and some experience to help you be more level-headed should a worst-case scenario arise.

Teaching Approach:
Even just acknowledging the need for this workshop can stir some anxiety or fear in individuals. We are very aware of this and will refrain from sharing more scary stories that are not productive. Instead, our approach is to inform and empower the individual (or family/community) to develop competence and confidence through training and preparing.
Participants can expect to spend time viewing live presentations where discussion and questions are welcome. Journaling assignments will help bring the lessons home to your personal situation. We will also go outside and do hands-on skill-building exercises, demonstrations, and scenarios to further your learning which also makes the workshop more fun and fulfilling.
