This adventure trip has been in the works for quite a while now. In September Kevin had the opportunity to visit St. Thomas and St. Croix to see firsthand how gorgeous and amazing this place truly is. We will be staying at Mount Victory Camp, an ecovillage run by friends of Kevin who also happen to be world-class earth skills instructors; Carmen & Matt Corradino. (read more about them below)

About the Accommodations
Mount Victory Camp is owned and operated by Matt & Carmen Corradino. The two have been long-time earth skills practitioners and teachers. The camp features an outdoor kitchen (covered with a roof as pictured), tent camping area for the teens, fire pits, shower and flushing toilets, and the best archery range Kevin has ever seen. July temperatures can be in the low 90s during the day and only cooling a few degrees at night so it's definitely summertime. The bugs aren't too bad but anyone who is sensitive to bug bites should bring repellent and have a tent or mosquito net over their hammock. Many varieties of tropical fruits grow in the wild year-round and July is especially good for mangoes! |

About the Instructors
You probably already know Kevin Glenn but in case you don't you can find his bio page here. |
Carmen Corradino
Carmen became enthralled with the world of wilderness skills as a teenager when she attended wilderness camps. She graduated from the College of the Atlantic, where she majored in human ecology and focused on field ecology and sustainability. For her senior project, she spent 6 weeks in a survival situation with minimal supplies, with a debris hut as her shelter. She went on to do the Caretaker program at the Tracker School, where she lived in a primitive shelter in the New Jersey Pine Barrens for a year and a half, practicing her skills as much as possible. She was hired by the school as an instructor and continued to live in her shelter with her husband, Matt, for another 3 years before moving to St. Croix. She has a special affinity for tropical plants and their many uses.
Matt Corradino
Matt Corradino has been learning and teaching primitive skills for over 15 years. He's spent over 6 years living in primitive shelters that he built himself. His passion ranges from the raw 'survival' experience to the more long-term 'primitive living' experience. In addition to his consecutive years spent living out of a primitive shelter, he has regularly taken short 'survival outings' and has spent over 100 nights in a survival shelter. More recently he was a contestant on season 8 of the TV show "Alone". One of his many skill sets includes primitive archery; bow making, arrow making, flint knapping, and of course, shooting and hunting.
Today, Matt and Carmen homeschool their two children in St. Croix where they teach through their school "Caribbean Earth Skills".
Mollie Nadler
Mollie has been interested in and in awe of the natural world since a very young age. What started for her as a curiosity and respect for all life eventually blossomed into a passion. After graduating college, Mollie took her first Tracker School class which opened her eyes to a whole new way of viewing and living in the world. Learning primitive and earth-based skills not only brought on a better sense of purpose and deeper personal connection to the earth but a deeper commitment as well. She ended up interning and working for the Tracker School and then eventually set off to travel and find her place on the map.
Mollie currently lives on St. Croix with her husband and two sons. When she's not doing bodywork or creating artisanal baked goods, she loves working primitive skills with her friends and family and has an affinity for the local trees and land stewardship, primitive pottery, primitive cooking, running & swimming long distances, sustainable living and creating delicious and nourishing meals with as many local ingredients as possible!

Further Information:
- Travel Documents: St. Croix is a U.S. territory. To travel back to the U.S. mainland we will need proof of citizenship which can be one of the following: U.S. passport, Real ID driver's license, or copy of U.S. birth certificate. You will also need a notarized travel consent form giving permission for your teen to travel with Kevin. Make sure to get these documents in order way in advance as it can take some time.
- Time zone: St. Croix is in Atlantic Standard Time which is the same time zone as Eastern Time Zone during the summer months.
- Cell phone policy for teens: teens may bring cell phones since this is far from home in order to let parents know they made it etc. However, once we arrive we will collect cell phones and only provide access to them for a maximum of 30 minutes per day just to reach out and let family know how they are doing. Kevin will start a group text with parents to provide updates a few times throughout the week. Teens may bring cameras.
- Sleeping arrangements: teens may sleep in a hammock though they should also plan on having a space in a tent in case of rain. We will divide the sleeping area by gender and have them in separate areas. Teens must bring their own tent but can make plans to share with friends.
- Physicality: we will take some excursions on foot hiking through rocky and rough terrain. Participants should be in good physical conditioning to handle these walks. We will also have a rental van for transporting the group to the beach but we may also occasionally choose to walk together.
- Gear list: tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, toothbrush, flashlight/headlamp, swimsuit, towel, soap, shampoo/conditioner, changes of clothes, 2 pairs of shoes (one closed toed), sunscreen, bug spray, sun hat, snorkeling gear, knife for wood carving projects, water bottle, prescription medications.
